How to claim your grant under the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS)

What is SEISS?
SEISS is a taxable grant worth 80% of their average trading profits up to a maximum of £7,500 (equivalent to three months’ profits), paid in a single instalment.

Grants under the Self-employment Income Support Scheme are not counted as ‘access to public funds’, and you can claim the grant even if you have a work visa.
In order to check you will need the following details:
  • National Insurance Number
You will also need to ensure that you are up-to-date on your Government Gateway account.

    When can you start applying?

    As of 13 May 2020, the claims service will open and you will be able to process your claim. 

    When will you get paid?

    All eligible claims will be processed and paid into your bank account by 25 May or within 6 working days of completing the claim.
    If you are a Trezeo member you can have  your grant paid to your Trezeo account, just enter your Trezeo account details on your claim.

    Will HMRC Contact you?

    HMRC is using information that customers have provided in their 2018 to 2019 tax return – and returns for 2016 to 2017 and 2017 to 2018 where needed – to determine their eligibility and is contacting customers who may be eligible via email, text message or letter.

    If you do not qualify for SEISS?

    There are other support services that may be able to assist you such as Universal Credit.

    What is the Universal Credit?

    This is a payment to help with your living costs. It’s paid monthly – or twice a month for some people in Scotland. 
    You may be able to get it if you’re on a low income, out of work or you cannot work.
